Australia’s top competitors have descended on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula to contest the 2025 Pet Circle Australian Jumping Championships proudly presented by Boneo Park. Legends and next generation stars alike are set to take to the arena from Wednesday November 5 to Sunday November 9 in a thrilling five-day showdown.

Over 700 horses are set to take centre stage as riders vie for national championship glory.

Strong fields of legendary competitors 

Competitors leapt into action today for the first day of competition as crowds eagerly watched from the sidelines. Speaking on the first round of competition, five time National Champion, World Cup Final and World Equestrian Games representative Chris Chugg said “it’s going to be a very competitive class that plays into the riders that are fast and competitive”. Competitors will be looking to finish in the coveted top five spots after the first two rounds of competition to be in contention for the National Titles.

Former Australian Champion and hot favourite coming into this year’s Senior Title, Tom McDermott put in an awe-inspiring performance with Cooley Gangster to finish atop the leaderboard after round one of the Pet Circle Australian Senior Championship.

“You can’t rule out Tom McDermott, he is just incredible. He has just come off the back of a World Cup Qualifier win at Stonewall” shared Jo Jennings of Australian Jumping. Jenning’s continued,  “this year we have the most incredible field of riders competing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so strong.”

Second place in today’s first round of competition went to Jamie Winning-Kermond aboard the Peel family’s Tulara WAT Colblensky. Winning-Kermond will have her sights firmly set on a coveted Senior Title in hopes to etch her name alongside that of her husband’s on the National Championship’s honour roll. Tom McDermott also secured third place with his second nomination of Oaks Ventriloquist, solidifying his status as one to keep a very close eye on come finals.

Next Generation stars light up the arena

In round one of the 4Cyte Australian Young Rider Championship, the boys put in a dominant performance. Queenslander Cody Ticknell took top honours with his nomination of Numero Too ahead of Victorian competitor Hayden Parker who finished just fractions of a second behind for second place. Third went to New South Welshman Alexander Jang aboard the impressive Parallax SCF.

The next generation stars of the Equestrian Life Australian Children’s Championship were equally impressive in the first round of competition, with Victorian Eliza Abrahams and her nomination of Emcee Street Wise securing poll position. Eliza Baird rode her eye-catching Bling Du Rouet to second place ahead of Luiza Dias Marucio and Molinda JB.

After a thrilling first day of competition, the stage is certainly set for an exciting week of competition. Spectators can soak up all of the action ringside with free public access.
