It was perfect warm spring weather for Day 2 at the 2024 Australian Jumping Championships at Willinga Park, NSW. There were 8 classes split across the two arenas, and some exciting Jumping taking place as competitors continued to build towards the finals.
The first class on the main arena today was the Trailrace Saddlery Australian Young Rider Championship Round 2. The win went to Jack Barker and CORNETS PRINZESS, with the only clear round. Charlie Magnier and NOTRE DAME DE BOURGUIGNON claimed 2nd place and 3rd place went to Jack Barker and TULARA COLCHIC.
The second class on the main arena was Round 2 of the Australian Senior Championship. Phillip Lever and BILLIONAIRE NZHP put in a double clear performance and were the fastest in 44.99. 2nd place went to Josh Collins and CORNEL, who jumped clear in 47.40. Third place went to Gemma Creighton and DADA DES BRIMBELLES Z, who also went clear in 48.10.
The Main Showjumping arena hosted Round 1 of the MRX Group Australian Children’s Championship on the main arena. In this single round event, it was Amy Thomson and ROTHSWAITE FREDDY FLINTSTONE fastest around the course in 63.0. Second place went to Harley McNaughton and GLENBROOKE ARCHIE BUNKER with a time of 63.9 and third went to Grace Vassallo and JUST PEACHY with a time of 68.31.
Next up was the 1.25m class split into Open and Young Horse. The Unicornium Young Horse 1.25m had a field of 50 combinations, with Chris Chugg and OAKS ELLA taking out the win with a clear round in 72.22. The Redleaf Lodge Open 1.25m class was also won by Chris Chugg, but this time his partner was CF COMANCHE, who jumped clear in 79.57.
The action on the main arena wrapped up with the Riders Cup. From a field of 25 combinations only three finished with a clear round. The win was taken by Emma Collins and OAKS ABRACADABRA in 74.71. In 2nd was Kate Hinschen and CALOUANDRA PS in 76.20. In 3rd was Amelia Douglass and QUEL FILOU 16 in 83.69.
Day 2 on the Yandoo Equestrian Services Arena 2 started with the 1m classes. First cab off the rank was the Tom Smith Farrier Adult 1.0m. The win went to Charlotte Inglis and CAPULET EGO Z with a clear round and a time of 62.37. Not far behind them, in 2nd, was Leslie Symons and STEADFAST NELSON Z jumping clear in 62.78. Alyssa Cochrane and CUT EM UP claimed 3rd with a clear round in 63.84.
The Tom McDermott Junior 1.0m class was the second class of the day on the Yandoo Eqestrian Services Arena 2. All 8 placegetters went clear and Porscha Polkinghorne and DEVEREAUX SEA SALT were the fastest around the course in 58.03. In 2nd, with a time of 59.13 was Porscha Polkinghorne and DEVEREAUX SEA SALT. Third position was taken by Lyla Ferrari and ROSTHWAITE BELVEDERE in 59.74.
The third class on Arena 2 was the Ouverture Sport Horses Young Horse 1.0m class. The class was won by Courtney Scott and MIRA who went clear in 57.46. Mick Pritchard and TULLARA ORACHIO were also clear in 64.31 to take out 2nd. Mack Rudder and JENJAN DESIGNER jumped clear in 65.34 and were 3rd.
The final class on Arena 2 was the 1.15m class. This was split into Open and Yound Horse. More than 50 combinations took to the arena for the Red Fox Lodge Open 1.15m class. All top 10 placegetters were clear with Lori James and RESTAURANTER SHP taking out the win in 58.16. Haydie May Bird and CONNOLLYS KARACHI were second fastest around the course in 60.18 and Alisa Williams and WILLYBLING came in 3rd in 60.84.
The Red Fox Lodge Young Horses 1.15m class was won with a clear round and in 64.01. Michael Short and the young grey stallion BELLE PHLYNN PARK CALISTO, flew around the course to take 1st place. Tori Glass and BONNIE VALLEY HAKUNA MATATA jumped clear and finished in 67.48 for 2nd place. Tarah Lawson and TULARA COLLINI were also clear and finished in 69.55 to claim 3rd place.
